Terms of Service
Please also read the Terms of Service governing use of the Site and the Services.
Welcome to JAMS and to our website located at www.jamsadr.com (the “Site”), serving JAMS (“JAMS, “we,” “us” or “our”) and all Site visitors and users (“Users,” “you,” or “your”). JAMS is the largest private alternative dispute resolution (“ADR” or “Services”) provider in the world, and we are committed to respecting your privacy rights and complying with all applicable privacy legislation.
When you use the JAMS website, we may store cookies on your web browser. This Cookie Notice explains what a cookie is, how you can manage your cookies, and what kind of cookies may be on our Site.
WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small pieces of data stored in text files on your computer or other device when websites are loaded in your browser, often used to remember you and your preferences regarding your visit to the website and any information you have volunteered. In other words, cookies in general are used to collect, store and track data.
Both websites and HTML emails may also contain other tracking technologies such as “web beacons” or “pixels.” These are typically small transparent images that provide us with statistics, for similar purposes as cookies. They are often used in conjunction with cookies, though they are not stored on your computer in the same way. As a result, if you disable cookies, web beacons may still load, but their functionality will be restricted.
There are three main types of cookies: session cookies which are temporary, lasting only as long as your session on a website (stored in a temporary memory location or RAM), persistent cookies which remain on your device’s hard drive beyond your session, and first or third-party cookies which are served by the site being visited (first party) or third parties.
Session cookies are temporary cookies which allow users to be recognized within a website so any page changes or data selection you do is remembered from page to page. The most common example of this functionality is the shopping cart feature of an e-commerce website.
Persistent cookies are used generally for two purposes: authentication, which is often essential (ensuring that it is you logging in, and remembering our password in certain cases), and tracking, which is often non-essential, used for advertising and marketing purposes.
First-party cookies are placed by the site which you are visiting, while third-party cookies are generated by websites other than the web pages you are visiting. These types of cookies allow companies to track your browsing history across the web. JAMS does not serve ads and does not encourage third-party cookies.
HOW WE USE COOKIES
We use both first-party and third-party cookies on our website.
First-party cookies are cookies issued from the jamsadr.com domain that are generally used to identify language and location preferences or render basic site performance monitoring and user experience functionality.
Third-party cookies belong to and are managed by other parties, such as JAMS business partners or service providers. These cookies may be required to render certain forms, such as the submission of a job application.
Generally, cookies perform up to six functions, as follows:
Category of Cookies |
Description and Use |
Strictly Necessary Cookies |
These cookies are necessary for the JAMS website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not function properly. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information. |
Functional Cookies |
These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization (such as account name, language, and location). They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, then some or all of these services may not function properly. |
Essential Cookies |
We use these cookies to help identify and prevent potential security risks. We need to use at least commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that your information is safe and secure, and in many cases confidential. |
Performance Cookies |
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our website. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site and will not be able to monitor its performance. We use these details to improve how the Site functions and to understand how Users interact with the Site. |
Targeting Cookies |
Targeting cookies are used primarily by advertising networks to display relevant advertising to visitors who use their services and to report on the effectiveness of ads served on websites. Targeting cookies may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. The JAMS website does not serve ads. However, in connection with our provision of the Services, we offer you our newsletter, certain blogs, and try to make you aware of events and webinars that may be of interest to you based on your use of the Services. Any such cookies used to provide these materials of potential interest are not-essential, and we require your consent before using such cookies. |
Social Media Cookies |
These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the site to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They can track your browser across other sites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies, you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools. The jamsadr.com website does not employ social media cookies, but does utilize links to social media services. |
